Liverpool Xherdan Shaqiri Found Negative COVID-19

GENEVA: The Swiss Football Federation has confirmed Liverpool player Xherdan Shaqiri was found to be negative for the COVID-19 test, but another player, Manuel Akanji was confirmed positive for the virus.

Shaqiri joined the team training session earlier this week and looks forward to his first appearance with Switzerland since June 2019.

However, the federation had previously announced that Shaqiri was positive for COVID-19, but a written decision released today found him to be negative.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

“The European Football Association (UEFA) Health Committee has to decide whether he can play or not. At this stage, it is impossible to know when a decision will be taken,” the association said.

“Manuel Akanji is already in isolation, but shows no symptoms.”
