Man Utd Tied By Leeds United

LONDON: Manchester United drew 0-0 with Leeds earlier this morning to stay on track for second place in the Premier League as Burnley move closer to the safety zone.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are close to securing a top-four finish, leading fifth-placed West Ham with 12 points with five games remaining but both sides look less threatening in the Elland Road competition.

United, unbeaten in 24 league games, now have 67 points after 33 games – they are 10 points behind Manchester City but eight ahead of third -placed Leicester.

Chasing City seems to be a fruitless effort and dropping the points means Pep Guardiola’s side will be crowned champions next weekend if they beat Crystal Palace and United lose to Liverpool.

Solskjaer rested Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani from the starting line -up with targets for early Friday morning’s clash in the Europa League against Roma.

The visitors, who won 6-2 last December at Old Trafford, had more chances in the disappointing match.

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier parried Marcus Rashford’s powerful shot just before the end of the first half while Bruno Fernandes’ effort went wide after receiving a pass from Aaron Wan-Bissaka after an hour of play.
