Guardiola Won Manager Of The Year Award
LONDON: Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was named manager of the year by the English League Managers Association (LMA) this morning.
Guardiola guided City to Premier League and League Cup titles while early on Sunday morning, his squad will look to be crowned King of Europe for the first time when they face English challengers Chelsea in the Champions League final in Porto.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager led the vote which was also joined by other challengers such as Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa; Norwich, Daniel Farke; Chelsea women’s team, Emma Hayes; West Ham, David Moyes and Leicester, Brendan Rodgers.
“I’m happy to win the LMA’s best manager of the year for the second time,” Guardiola said.
“It for me is a special trophy to be won because it is chosen by another fellow manager. An award like this is only given if the manager is surrounded by very professional individuals.
“My players are amazing-their dedication and professional level is excellent, even in the most challenging season we’ve ever gone through,” said the 50-year-old operator with his mother dying during the COVID-19 pandemic.
