The Blues Disappointed With United’s Draw
LONDON: Thomas Tuchel admits Chelsea were disappointed with the 1-1 draw against Manchester United after Jorginho’s mistake caused Jadon Sancho to put the visitors ahead in English Premier League (EPL) action at Stamford Bridge.
Jorginho, however, made up for his mistake by completing a penalty kick after Aaron Wan-Bissaka fouled Thiago Silva.
Tuchel’s side dominated the entire game but Jorginho’s weak control allowed Sancho to snatch the ball to put Michael Carrick’s side ahead early in the first half.
Chelsea, who have not lost in 11 games in all competitions, remain at the top of the league with a one -point advantage over Manchester City who beat West Ham.
United, in eighth place, are 12 points behind the leaders but the performance at Stamford Bridge gave a new lease of life after a difficult period.
Carrick coached the team for the second game in a row after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked, with the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager until the end of the season expected to be confirmed in the near future.
“I’m proud of the players and the team. It’s a tough situation and we’re trying to produce the best. But I’m a little disappointed, I can’t hide it. For me it’s not a direct penalty,” Carrick said.
