Barcelona’s Best Performance This Season

MADRID: Barcelona revived their La Liga title when they bounced back from a one-goal deficit to beat Real Sociedad 2-1, with veteran defender Jordi Alba claiming it was “the best match of the season.”

The victory helped Barcelona six points closer to the top of the league while the defeat meant Sociedad relinquished the lead to Atletico Madrid.

However Barca went through it in a difficult way.

Sociedad, who has failed to score in Barcelona for 25 years, took the lead through Willian Jose in the 26th minute.

Spain international Alba equalized four minutes later while Frenkie de Jong added a second before the break.

“It was our best match of the season. We came to this match realizing what we had to do,” said left-back Alba.

“We put pressure on them, especially in the first half.

“Tonight I saw a very good Barca. We are happy with the character shown. We know how to suffer. This should give us more confidence for the rest of the remaining La Liga rivals.”
