Wenger Respects Ozil Joins Fenerbahce

LONDON: Arsene Wenger has praised Mesut Ozil after the Arsenal sidelined left the English Premier League (EPL) club to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The former Gunners manager tied the German planner in 2013 but the player’s relationship was ‘cracked’ under the current operator, Mikel Arteta.

The 32-year-old, who receives the highest salary of around 350,000 pounds a week, has not played since March.

However, Wenger admits that the former German midfielder who won the 2014 World Cup is a talented player who is hard to find.

“Mesut is like you imagine an orchestra conductor in music,” Wenger told beIN Sports Turkey.

“He is a player who plays the ball at the right time. The timing of his passing is incredible, as is the creativity of his passing.

“In every situation he faced, he gave the right answer and that was genius.”

Wenger also said that the presence of Ozil will strengthen Fenerbahce which aims to win the Turkish Super League for the first time since 2013/14.

“I’m sure he was disappointed not to be sent down. So of course he is really eager to play again.

“Mesut is a person who needs an environment that is always supportive and I believe he will feel it in Fenerbahce.”

Fenerbahce, which is also one of the three largest teams in Istanbul, now occupies the second place in the Turkish Super League behind Besiktas.
