Conte: Inter Showed Improvement
nter Milan showed how much they have improved this season with a 2-1 win over Sassuolo earlier this morning, said their head coach Antonio Conte.
The Nerazzurri are now 11 points clear at the top of Serie A thanks to wins contributed by goals from Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez in each half – through just two of their accurate attempts throughout the match.
Hamed Junior Traore then closed the gap for Sassuolo late in the game but the league leaders are now the second team in Serie A history-after AC Milan in the 1989-90 season-to win all 10 of their first 10 games in the second half of a single campaign.
Inter recorded the lowest game possession percentage (30 per cent) in a single Serie A match since the Opta record was introduced in the 2004-05 season and are far behind in terms of attempts when compared to Sassuolo-15 for seven.
But Conte was pleased with the way his side clinched the win, insisting that the points collected were far more important than their performance, which Inter learned from the difficult experience of being knocked out of the Champions League (UCL).
