Gattuso To Napoli Fans – Wear Face Mask
NAPLES, Italy: Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has urged fans who pay tribute to club legend Diego Maradona to wear face masks to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Thousands of Napoli fans have flooded the streets of the Italian city since the news of Maradona’s death last Wednesday.
World Cup champions Argentina, Maradona led Napoli to their league titles in 1987 and 1990 as well as the 1989 UEFA Cup.
“Sadness envelops Diego’s death, but at this point the townspeople also need to be vigilant.
“Too many people do not wear face masks. Maradona, she is a legend, indisputable, everyone knows, but now we have to be smart if we do not want to accept the consequences.
“The city is now badly affected economically, as well as the rest of the country. We need to do it right,” Gattuso said after his squad beat Roma 4-0.
Italy is the first European country to be hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic that has so far claimed the lives of more than 50,000 of its citizens.
Napoli thrashed Roma at the San Paolo Stadium to advance to fifth in Serie A, six points behind leaders AC Milan.
