Haaland Wants To Stay At Dortmund

Erling Haaland wants to win the trophy with Borussia Dortmund and does not think about his transfer from the club, said his father, Alf-Inge Haaland.

Dortmund won the race to get Erling Haaland from Salzburg in January and he stole the spotlight in his first season at Signal Iduna Park by scoring 27 goals from 29 appearances in all competitions for the club.

The Norwegian national has a higher percentage of chances of finishing (62.5 per cent) than Robert Lewandowski (53.9 per cent) in the Bundesliga this season despite the Polish striker scoring more than five goals with the same number of matches (six).

The 20-year-old continues to be linked with other major European clubs but Alf-Inge Haaland insists the matter was never discussed.

“When you play well, it’s logical for big clubs to knock on your door but we’re talking about speculation,” he told SPORT1.

“For now, it is not in the mind of Erling or me that other clubs will compete to get it.

“We have signed a long-term contract with Dortmund and they are a great team for Erling at the moment. We do not want to look too far,” he said.

Asked whether the transfer window would allow his son to move or not, he added: “We will not know what will happen. We have not yet discussed such a move.

“I think we want to win some trophies with Dortmund. That’s the target.

“Erling can still achieve a lot in Germany and grow tremendously. Moving abroad is not a necessity for us.

“Sometimes I think he wants and can join any league.

“For now, he is happy in the Bundesliga and focused on Dortmund.

“He just wants to be a better player and not look too far,” he added

Dortmund lost 2-3 to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga before the international break and will continue their action against Hertha Berlin at home this weekend.
