Kane: Euro Trophy Surpasses Club
LONDON: England captain Harry Kane insists winning Euro 2020 will surpass all success at club level ahead of the meeting against in the semi -final action, early this Thursday morning.
The Three Lions star will once again lead the team’s challenge after scoring twice in a 4-0 win over Ukraine in the quarter-finals.
Kane admitted he was desperate to lift the major tournament trophy in front of his own fans at Wembley.
“I think it will mean a lot. I often say winning a trophy with England will surpass any success at club level, that’s my view.
“It’s been going on too long i.e. 55 years since the last time we won something for the country.
“By being a part of history, it will be something that will never be forgotten.
“We have a chance to achieve it. We have to take advantage of it and not let it go,” said Kane, who is also eyeing a chance to win the Golden Shoe award with him who has already scored three goals.
However, whatever results are reached in the Euro campaign this time, he will have to decide on his future with Tottenham Hotpur after the tournament is over.
New Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants to keep the prolific striker with Manchester City reportedly interested in bringing Kane into the Etihad Stadium.
When asked if he would stay under the new manager, Kane, said: “Every time a new manager comes along, I’m sure everyone will be excited.
“I’m still here and haven’t been in touch with him yet. I need to focus on my assignment with England.
“He’s a great manager and did an excellent job with the Wolves. When he comes back, I’m sure we’ll meet.”
