Lazio Advanced To Italian Cup Quarter-finals

MILAN: Parma goalkeeper Simone Colombi’s own goal late in the game allowed Lazio to reach the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup just 2-1 in Rome.

Lazio midfielder Marco Parolo scored the first goal from Andreas Pereira’s pass in the 23rd minute of the last 16 clash.

But Parma bounced back when Valentin Mihaila equalized for the visitors with seven minutes left in the game at the Stadio Olimpico.

As the match seemed to lead to extra time, Vedat Muriqi headed towards the goal in the 90th minute with the ball hit the crossbar and bounced towards Colombi before hitting the goal.

Seven-time champions Lazio, who last won the trophy in 2019, will face Atalanta at Bergamo next Wednesday for a place in the semi-finals.

Challengers from the same city, Inter Milan and AC Milan will meet in the last eight groups on Tuesday.

The defending champions Napoli will face Spezia while Juventus await the presence of Serie B team SPAL.
