Manchester Clubs Race To Sign Haaland
MANCHESTER: Manchester United are ready to compete with Manchester City once again in next year’s summer transfer window in a scramble for Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker will be the focus of European giants as his contract with Borussia Dortmund has a release clause that allows him to leave the club for 64.5 million pounds once the season ends.
Despite overcoming City to get Cristiano Ronaldo, Haaland, 21, is still United’s main target.
United almost got it in January this year when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who coached Haaland in Molde, flew to Austria to negotiate with his compatriot, but the Red Bull Salzburg striker opted to go to Dortmund.
City were disappointed by Dortmund in the summer transfer window this time after the German club put a high price on them, and also missed out on signing Ronaldo and Harry Kane last month.
Meanwhile agent Donny van de Beek demanded United keep his promise by giving him more minutes of play after the club rejected a loan transfer to Everton.
Van de Beek’s career has stagnated since he arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax a year ago, with the Dutch midfielder just starting 15 games.
