Messi Holds Media This Evening

Madrid: Lionel Messi will hold a press conference at Camp Nou this evening, three days after Barcelona announced they could not afford to keep the star.

The 34-year-old Argentina player linked to the move to Paris Saint-Germain did not make any statement on his future after Barca’s announcement.

Messi joined Barca since the age of 13 and became the top scorer of the 21-year club with them.

Barcelona President Joan Laporta last Friday said he was not willing to take risks by renewing Messi’s contract, when the club faced financial problems ahead of the new season of La Liga.

PSG, who bought Neymar from Barcelona with the world’s most expensive transfer record in 2017, among the preferred clubs capable of signing Messi.

Messi was previously seen on vacation with Neymar, Argentina Angel di Maria and Leandro Paredes and another star PSG Marco Verrati.

The captain of Barcelona became an independent agent since July 1 as soon as his contract ended.
