Olmo’s Goal Saved Spain
PARIS: Dani Olmo’s injury-time goal gave Spain a 2-1 win over Georgia, while Denmark thrashed Moldova 8-0.
Spain, who started their Group B campaign with a draw against Greece, trailed by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s goal before the break.
Manchester City’s Ferran Torres equalized in the 56th minute with his fifth goal in six first-team appearances.
Spain’s effort in the second half finally paid off in injury time when Olmo’s shot from 25 yards out found the target.
“It was probably one of those games that made me suffer enough.
“I am willing to suffer if in the end we win but we can see how difficult this qualifying campaign is,” Spain manager Luis Enrique said.
In Copenhagen, Denmark strengthened their position at the top of Group F with Kasper Dolberg and Mikkel Damsgaard each blasting twice in an 8-0 win over Moldova.
