Solskjaer Accepted Defeat Against Man City
MANCHESTER: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer accepted his defeat in the English League Cup semi-final against Manchester City and considered Pep Guardiola’s side to be the best in England.
The two-man long-lost goal for City, John Stones and Fernandinho ended United’s dream of a championship at Old Trafford.
The United manager feels his squad is good enough to end the championship drought this season, but not good enough to overcome his neighbors.
“Manchester City are capable of scoring great goals. You have to accept that fact. When you are conceded with two easy goals through a dead ball situation, it is very frustrating. Not good enough in that situation.
“We did not create many golden opportunities. So did they. We did not have the finishing touches like in previous matches.
“We are not good enough today. We are against a very good Manchester City team. They play well. When they play well, you have to be better to beat them. We have a weakness there.
“We are getting closer. This is a better version of United than last year in the semi-finals.
“It’s not a psychological factor (lost in the four semi-finals). There are times when you meet a good team in the semi-finals and we are not good enough.
“We are meeting the best team in England right now and it is not good enough to overcome them,” said Solskjaer.
